TESTIMONIAL
Everyone needs much more than to simply be ‘cared for’. We need friendships, skills, fulfilment and a place where we are understood.
Catalyst’s Day Opportunities enable people with additional learning needs and/or physical disabilities to take part in a diverse range of day-time activities, using local community facilities. This might be support with daily tasks, or treatments such as Occupational Therapy, independence building activities, as well as social and leisure opportunities.
We want you to spend your day, engaged in activities you have chosen with your support delivered by professional and personable staff.
Noah's* Voice
June 2020. Noah was having a really difficult time. His relationship with his family had broken down, and it had left both sides feeling helpless and unhappy. Due to his autism diagnosis, Noah hugely values structured routines. However, as a young adult, Noah’s erratic behaviour, such as setting fires and trying to abscond from care, meant that neither his family nor the police felt he was ready or prepared to live independently, without putting himself or others at risk.
After meeting Noah for the first time, Catalyst put a team together to support him in his own house, alongside a plan for joining day opportunities. This involved matching team members who could meet Noah’s specific needs while building trust, planning and routine into his day-to-day life. The team was there to link Noah to the specific activities he wanted to do – so much so that he started to plan his own support by selecting which staff he wanted on different occasions.
January 2021. Noah is now settled in his own home, and there is very clear guidance and support in place for any team members who may work with him. This stability and support has meant that Noah has been able to re-establish a positive relationship with his parents and has even been able to make plans for the future to realise his personal aspirations and ambitions.

**One of Catalyst Choices’ core values is growth, for both our clients and our team. In Noah’s case, the Catalyst team were able to see his potential for personal growth, despite the challenges faced in his previous experience of care. This means Noah will be able to achieve his goals in future and do so happily and safely.
Catalyst Choices also values collaboration. This is a key factor in Noah’s story, as the team worked with Noah, alongside his family and key health and social care professionals, to create a result that was successful for everyone.
